Makayla Long, a senior at Perry High and a Baylor signee, won the Division 1 girls discus title with a 162-foot throw (49.37m) in the third round at the AIA Outdoor State Championships at Desert Vista High in Phoenix. Long, who ranks 10th nationally this season at 163-2 (49.73m), swept both the discus and shot put championships after four career top-five finishes representing West Linn High in the Oregon 6A state finals in 2018 and 2019.
